You will enjoy a Mindful Yoga Flow fit for all levels, a Lecture on the Yoga Sutras  and meditations per day along with a total of 7 yoga philosophy talks on the Yoga Sutras of Sage Patanjali along with the regular daily ashram schedule.

The Yoga Sutras describe the path of Raja Yoga, these Sutras  (aphorisms) for developing mastery of the mind. The physical practice of yoga, Hatha Yoga, is only a small part of the science of yoga – this weeklong retreat introduces students to the depth and vastness of the subject as outlined by the ‘Father of Yoga’.

What You Will  Learn: We are currently living with an onslaught of distractions. Constantly struggling with everyday challenges like pain in our bodies, minds and hearts, feelings of doubt and insecurity, vacillating in our convictions, questioning our decisions, striving to prioritize tasks and time, and grappling with worldly demands ranging from paying our bills to interacting compassionately with our parents, our children, our partners. Yoga teaches us how to live a life with more sustainable joy. The Yoga Sutras work to teach us how to apply this practice to every day life.

Rosie Acosta

Rosie has been practicing yoga and meditation since 2004. Her practice began as a suggestion from her coach while training for her first L.A. Marathon. After a few years this became so much more than just a form of exercise. Yoga was her only way to find her space for peace and clarity. She uses Yoga as a laboratory to learn integrity, honesty, and discipline.

She completed her teacher training at YogaWorks in Los Angeles and is 500hr RYT certified. In 2012 she completed a 200hr Teacher Training with Hala Khouri and Julian Walker at Exhale Center for Sacred Movement in Venice, CA. This training emphasized the importance of mind-body integration through Somatic Psychology, Neuroscience, and Buddhist meditation. Her teaching style incorporates sequences that flow through inversions with attention to the breath, building towards balance and flexibility. Classes are skillfully sequenced to help students find their own space and enjoy their practice.

As a huge advocate of self-healing and a Holistic Health Coach, She writes articles on the importance of holistic nutrition, yoga and meditation. On sunny (and rainy) days she enjoys beautiful nature runs along the riverfront and walking her two Frenchies and Shih tzu named Chewy (short for Chewbacca). She is currently studying ParaYoga with her teacher Rod Stryker, which blends the ancient teachings of Tantra, Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda and the Yoga Sutras.

While a more detailed schedule will be sent closer to the retreat date, there will be an evening yoga class on the day of arrival, a morning yoga class on the day of departure, and morning and evening yoga classes on the other days. Lots of free time to relax, get a massage, frolic in the warm ocean water, or take part in one of the many optional excursions.
