The Quiet Power of Restorative Yoga
In most styles of yoga, we engage, stretch, or strengthen. But in Restorative Yoga, the purpose is different: to let the body rest and be supported. It’s not about effort—it’s about surrender.

Surrender as a Practice
During Restorative Yoga sessions at Xinalani, each posture is held for several minutes, fully supported by props, blankets, and bolsters. You can join one of our open classes during your stay, book a private session for deeper relaxation, or—if you’re visiting as part of a group retreat—your teacher may already include this gentle practice in the schedule.
Everything you need is provided here, so you can simply arrive, breathe, and let yourself be supported.
For retreat leaders, Xinalani offers the perfect setting to share the art of Restorative Yoga. Our oceanfront shalas, quiet jungle surroundings, and complete set of props provide both the space and the support to help your students truly unwind. Whether as an evening session or a full workshop, this practice finds a natural home here.
As the body settles, the nervous system quiets, and the mind slowly learns to trust. Stillness, which at first may feel unfamiliar, begins to feel like home.

Letting Yourself Be Supported
The floor, the props, your breath, and the teacher’s gentle voice become an invisible network of care. It’s a reminder that you don’t always have to hold yourself up.
At Xinalani, that same feeling extends beyond the yoga mat. The ocean breeze, the sound of waves, the kindness of our team—everything here seems to whisper: you are being cared for.
The Art of Receiving
Receiving is something we often forget how to do. We’re so used to giving, pushing, and doing, that allowing ourselves to rest can feel almost radical. Yet, to rest is not to withdraw—it’s to open.
Restorative Yoga teaches us that healing doesn’t always come from movement. Sometimes, it begins in stillness—in the space where we finally stop striving and start listening.
Here and Now
In deep rest, something shifts inside. The mind softens, the breath deepens, and the body remembers how to be whole.
At Xinalani, that stillness isn’t a luxury—it’s part of the experience.
Because in the end, to rest is also to practice.
To learn to receive is to learn to trust—your body, the earth, and life itself.
