Key Takeaways
  • The best yoga retreat is the one that aligns with your personal intentions and current needs.
  • Consider the season, location, yoga style, schedule, and retreat leader before making your decision.
  • You don’t need previous yoga experience to enjoy many retreats—curiosity is enough.
  • Whether you’re traveling solo, with a partner, or with friends, there’s a retreat designed for your journey.
  • Reading the retreat details and connecting with the teacher can help you choose with confidence.

So many options. Only one you.

With over 100 retreats hosted at Xinalani each year, it’s easy to feel both inspired and overwhelmed. How do you know which one is your retreat? It all starts with a simple question:

What are you looking for?

Are you craving rest or emotional renewal? Do you want to move your body or reconnect with your heart? Are you hoping to deepen your yoga practice, or are you just beginning to explore it?

Not all retreats are the same—and that’s the beauty of it. Some are soft and soothing, full of space and silence. Others are emotionally intense and transformative. Some dive into spiritual practices, while others blend movement with coaching, meditation, or even fitness.

Let yourself be honest about what you need. This is not about what sounds impressive—this is about what sounds like healing.

Timing is everything

Each season offers something different. Spring and fall tend to be cooler, perfect for those who like moderate temperatures. Summer is our low season: quieter, more spacious, often with better rates. Winter brings energy, more retreats to choose from, and ideal weather for beachside yoga.

Our retreat calendar is updated constantly, so you can explore dates that align with your personal rhythm.

Explore your yoga style (or blend a few)

Some retreats focus on a specific style, like Ashtanga, Hot Yoga, or Aerial Yoga. Others are more eclectic, with daily practices that vary in tone and intention. If you’re curious about a type of yoga not offered in your retreat, you can always add extra classes from Xinalani’s regular program.

There’s no rule saying you must already have a “favorite” style. Let curiosity lead.

Who are you traveling with?

Some retreats are perfect for solo travelers looking to connect deeply with themselves (or meet like-minded people). Others are welcoming spaces for couples or friends who want to share the journey. Make sure to check whether the retreat is open to all or centered around a specific group (like women-only).

And yes, Xinalani hosts everyone. You can bring your partner, your best friend, or show up just as you are.

What’s included (and what’s extra)

All retreats include round-trip transportation from Puerto Vallarta airport, delicious meals, taxes, and access to snorkeling and kayak gear. Some retreats also offer unique additions: special ceremonies, off-site adventures, or one-on-one sessions with teachers.

And don’t forget to look at the daily schedule. Do you want full days of practice and activity? Or would you prefer more open time to relax, explore, and simply be?

Got questions? Ask the teacher

Every retreat has its own mini-site with a contact button. When you send a request, you’ll be connected directly with the teacher or organizer. That’s because each retreat is run independently—and no one can guide you better than the person holding space for the group.

We’re here to support the journey, but the soul of the retreat always lives in the teacher.

So… how do you choose?

Honestly? You listen to that inner voice that’s been whispering for a while now. The one that says you’re ready to take time for yourself. To grow, soften, reconnect.

Scroll the options. Read between the lines. Feel what lights you up.

If something pulls at you, it probably means you’re ready.
