On February 22, isolated criminal incidents occurred in parts of the state of Jalisco, including vehicle burnings and temporary road disruptions. Images from these events circulated widely across international media and social platforms.

As of today — March 3 — Puerto Vallarta is fully calm and operating normally.

What Happened

  • The incidents occurred on February 22 and were resolved the same day.
  • There were no casualties in Puerto Vallarta’s tourist zones.
  • No gunfire occurred in tourist areas.
  • No visitors were targeted.
  • The temporary security alert (“Código Rojo”) was lifted on February 24.

Current Situation (March 3)

  • Puerto Vallarta remains peaceful
  • Hotels and restaurants are operating normally
  • Transportation services are fully functioning
  • Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) is operating normally
  • Retreats at Xinalani and Mixto continue as scheduled

We welcomed 41 guests this past weekend, and all programs proceeded without interruption. Authorities continue to maintain a visible presence as a preventive measure.

To further support arriving and departing guests, we increased staff presence at the Puerto Mágico Marina and at the airport.

About the Media Coverage

We understand that the images shared online were alarming. It is important to note that some photos and videos circulating were either AI-generated or taken out of context, and did not accurately represent the situation on the ground. The situation in Puerto Vallarta was resolved quickly and did not involve tourist areas.

As is often the case, the visual impact of isolated events can create the perception of broader disruption, even when daily life has already returned to normal.
